Privacy policy
In short
The Kajet app does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. Your pages are kept on your device and, only when you turn iCloud sync on, in your own private iCloud storage. We cannot read them.
Who is responsible
Kajet is developed and published by Krzysztof Kardasz, who is the data controller for the purposes of this policy. You can reach us at support@kajet.app.
What the app stores
Kajet stores the pages you write, their titles, whether each one is pinned, locked, archived or in the trash, and your app settings. This data stays in the app’s own storage on your device.
If you enable “Use iCloud Sync”, the same data is additionally stored in Kajet’s private CloudKit container inside your Apple Account, so that it can be synchronised between your iPhone, iPad and Mac. This storage belongs to you; it is governed by Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy, and the developer has no access to it.
Locked pages
A page you lock is opened with Touch ID, Face ID or your device password, checked by the system — Kajet never sees your biometric data or your passcode. Locking hides a page inside the app: its name stays visible in the list, its contents are excluded from list search even after you have opened it, and reading mode, statistics, sharing, export and printing wait until it is open. It is not encryption, and it does not protect the stored file against someone with access to the device or to your iCloud storage.
No analytics, ads or third-party services
The app contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs. Its privacy manifest declares that it does not track users and does not collect data.
Reading mode draws Mermaid diagrams and typesets LaTeX mathematics on the device, without a web view and without contacting anything. The one exception is an image you have linked yourself: an https address on a line of its own is fetched from wherever you pointed it, and that server sees the request the way it would in a browser.
This website
kajet.app is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages. As part of delivering the pages, GitHub may log technical request data such as IP addresses; see GitHub’s privacy statement linked below.
Your theme and language preferences are stored locally in your browser. We also store your analytics choice in localStorage under kajet-analytics-consent, with its date and notice version. This record is used only to honour your choice, without sending it to Google before consent.
We remember acceptance and refusal for 180 days. After that, we ask again and discard the expired record on your next visit. Clearing browser storage also removes the choice. If storage is blocked, the choice lasts only for the current page.
Optional website analytics
Only after you select “Accept” do we load Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We use it to measure visits and interactions and improve this website. The legal basis for analytics data processing is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); storing and accessing analytics cookies also requires consent under Article 399 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law. Refusal does not limit access to the website.
Google receives cookie identifiers, page views and interactions, browser and device information, and approximate location. Your IP address is used to handle the connection and derive location; Google states that it does not log or store individual IP addresses for EU visitors. We do not enable Google signals or advertising personalisation in the website tag.
Analytics uses first-party cookies _ga (browser identifier) and _ga_8MJYNL8G5N (session state). We limit their lifetime to the remaining consent period, at most 180 days, without extending it on each visit. No Google Analytics script or measurement request is sent before consent or after refusal.
Choose “Withdraw analytics consent” in the footer of any page to stop analytics and delete this website’s analytics cookies. The page reloads to unload the analytics code. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing or automatically delete data already received by Google. You can allow analytics again through “Cookie settings”.
Google may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Its data processing terms describe the applicable transfer safeguards, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable and standard contractual clauses. Links to those terms and Google’s explanation of partner-site data use are below.
User-level and event-level data in a standard Google Analytics 4 property can be retained for 2 or 14 months, depending on the property settings; this setting does not apply to aggregated reports. For the current retention setting or a request concerning your data, contact us at the address below.
Retention and deletion
Your pages stay until you delete them. Moving a page to the trash keeps it for 30 days and then removes it permanently; Delete Immediately and Empty Trash remove it at once. An archived page is kept for as long as you leave it there. When sync is on, filing and deleting apply to your other devices as well.
Removing the app deletes its local data; data kept in iCloud can be removed in the system settings of your Apple Account.
Children
Kajet is safe to use at any age: it has no accounts, no user-generated content shared with others and no data collection.
Your rights
For personal data processed in connection with the website, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability where applicable, and object where processing is based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time. Contact support@kajet.app; you may also complain to your data protection authority, including the President of Poland’s Personal Data Protection Office (UODO). We cannot access pages stored in the Kajet app or your private iCloud storage.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
